COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:

The right of free and compulsory education is one of the most fundamental of all human rights. After decades of war, basic education in Afghanistan, especially for girls, had totally disappeared. The reconstruction of the Afghan educational system, which started in 2001, is still far from complete. There are still millions of students living in rural areas, many in refugee camps, who continue to be denied their right to education.

HABIBE KADIRI SCHOOL FOR GIRLS:

Acknowledging this basic need, in 2007, Barakat Group completed the construction a primary school in the remote town of Akcha in northern Afghanistan with 22 classrooms and modern facilities for the education of girls. The school remains one of the very few schools in the country equipped with computers, laboratory rooms, conference hall, cafeteria, air conditioning and heating system.

The school has been donated by Barakat to the people of Akcha and a modern education system has been implemented by the Turkish Ministry of Education. Twenty qualified female teachers have been recruited from Turkey in order to teach more than 500 girls students the curriculum as per Turkish educational system. This is the first school operated by the Turkish Ministry of Education located outside of Turkey.  All textbooks, uniforms and other necessities are being delivered from abroad and distributed to students free of charge. Education is free with entrance based on examination.

Believing that education is the symbol of progress, Barakat Group has also devoted to the renovation of several other schools in Afghanistan and continuously sponsors students in various projects. Many talented graduates of the schools are currently completing  degrees in prestigious universities abroad, being supported by scholarships coordinated by Barakat Group.
